Engineer Trainee/Assistant Engineer (Civil)

Under the direction of a licensed professional engineer, incumbents' duties will include, but are not limited to:
Preparing plans for highway and bridge projects using CADD and highway design software (e.g., Microstation, OpenRoads, Storm & Sanitary, HydroCadd, AutoTurn, GuideSign). Working on projects that are technically complex and require 3D modeling, closed drainage and culvert design, traffic modeling, etc. Assisting with the preparation of project reports (e.g., Project Scoping Reports, Design Reports, Drainage Reports). Assisting with the development of the engineer's estimate. Assisting with the project scheduling. Developing notes and specifications for specialty work. Helping to test the latest CADD software. Assisting in the gathering and compilation of site data for highway and bridge projects. Occasional travel is required to attend site visits, meet with Regional staff, and attend public meetings. Serving as part of a design team in a dynamic environment, which progresses several projects simultaneously. This position will require working closely with other team members to accomplish team goals and meet customer requirements. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Salary Range:
From $61270 to $86140 Annually
Minimum Qualification
In order to be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. NOTE:
Engineering Traineeship Program:
As an Engineer Trainee, you will serve a 24-month traineeship that leads to Assistant Engineer, Grade 20. To advance to Assistant Engineer, you must have obtained proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and successfully completed the requirements of the traineeship to the satisfaction of the appointing authority. At the discretion of the appointing authority, early advancement to Assistant Engineer is possible if you have obtained your FE and have successfully completed twelve months of the traineeship. It is your responsibility to notify the appointing authority's personnel office upon obtaining proof of passing the FE. You may receive an increase in salary upon obtaining your FE. Information about this increase will be provided by the appointing authority.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
