Advocacy Specialist 4

Under the supervision of IFSU Director, the Advocacy Specialist 4 would:
o Assist Unit Director with strategic direction and establishing priorities for supervision of 18-person unit, in regional office locations throughout the state, responsible for providing support and assistance to individuals and families contacting the Justice Center. o Assist with all grant management responsibilities and reporting. o Directly supervise 4-person team, which includes 3 supervisors and 1 Ombudsman, in regional office locations throughout the state. o Provide technical assistance and develop the processes and procedures necessary to promote and enhance the Individual and Family Support Unit's functions and directly assist with expansion of the Ombudsman program and its functions. o Modify processes and conduct quality assurance to enhance efficiency of response to stakeholder concerns and to ensure accuracy of data for reporting purposes. o Assist with implementation of Key Performance Initiatives and Internal Control processes. o Provide oversight and support related to contact merging processes for IFSU and newly released familiar callers VPCR module. o Foster communication with key State Oversight agencies of the Justice Center and facilitate responses to cases. o Engage in and expand opportunities for outreach to parents, individuals, crime victim/law enforcement, and self-advocacy groups. o Collaborate with different business units of the Justice Center to assist with the preparation and delivery of advocacy-related training or presentation materials. o Create, review, and provide reporting on metrics, trends, and other relevant data related to unit functions. o In the absence of the Director, assume needed duties to ensure operations. o Statewide travel required 30%.

Salary Range:
From $88161 to $111111 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Promotional:
One year of permanent service as an Advocacy Specialist 3; OR Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a human services field AND four years of experience as an advocate or service provider in the field of rehabilitation, developmental disabilities or mental health; OR A Master's degree in a human services field AND three years of experience as an advocate or service provider in the field of rehabilitation, developmental disabilities or mental health. Preference will be given to candidates currently serving, or who have served, in a Advocacy Specialist 3, SG-23 position with the NYS Justice Center, NYS Office of Mental Health, NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, or NYS Office for the Aging.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
