Summary:
Patrols the REOC facility and parking lots to detect burglaries, vandalism, equipment failures, building maintenance problems, and other situations, which threaten State property.
Essential Functions:
Reports incidents or conditions threatening State property to appropriate law enforcement or maintenance personnel to ensure that the appropriate follow-up action is taken. Exercises good judgment as to the seriousness of problems encountered and the need for immediate action. Acts as coordinator of fire drills. Directs people along designated evacuation routes to safe places during emergencies and drills to ensure that people evacuate in a timely manner. Operates fire extinguishers to extinguish fires in the event of an emergency. Opens and closes the facility:
turns lights on or off, starts and shuts off motors and heaters; ensures that facility is ready for use or close. Provides escort or assistance to physically handicapped persons or others to ease their access to or exit from the building. Prepares written reports of shift activities, including actions taken to report or resolve incidents or problems. Answers questions and gives directions to visitors to State facilities to assist them in finding appropriate offices and services.

Salary Range:
From $36039 to $36039 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Candidates must have permanent appointment in a Security Services Assistant 1 NY State classified position (or be eligible for transfer) or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service eligible list for Security Services Assistant 1, Full Time - Rochester location. Open Competitive:
registration as a Security Guard by the NYS Department of State. Candidates must meet established physical and medical requirements for appointment to the position. Appointees to this position may be required to undergo periodic medical examinations to reassess their ability to perform the essential duties of the position.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
