59 PM Eastern DESCRIPTION BENEFITS General Description This is a professional-level position in the Rochester Fire Department (RFD) responsible for auditing prehospital care reports completed by Fire Department Providers in an effort to ensure their quality, uniformity, and appropriateness.
The incumbent works under the general supervision of a higher-level employee in the RFD EMS Office in conjunction with the RFD Medical Director to support the implementation of evidence-based best practices to improve the delivery of prehospital care to those served by the RFD.
This is a Competitive Class position.
The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.
A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three.

CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
Typical Work Activities Regularly reviews electronic prehospital care reports related to EMS calls for service for quality, uniformity, appropriateness, and completion; Develops appropriate feedback and identifies the need for addendums as necessary, for providers who complete reports to facilitate understanding and improve care documentation; If identified, reports care deviations, and other areas of concern to ranking EMS Officers as appropriate; Assists in the maintenance of an EMS quality improvement plan; Generates utilization and quality reports for analysis and use by the EMS Office and RFD Administration; Generates reports to assist the EMS office with data interpretation and trend analysis; Assists the EMS Office in the utilization of data to facilitate individual and department-wide performance improvement plans and/or training and education; Generate reports to facilitate analysis and process improvement using operational, and patient care data to report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI); Maintains familiarity with New York State EMS Medical Protocols and applicable regional and county policies regarding the provision of prehospital care; Maintains knowledge of National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) standards and data reporting requirements of the New York State Department of Health Bureau of EMS; Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of field EMS experience and possession of a New York State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician or higher certification.
Candidates with the ability to obtain NYS EMT certification through reciprocity will also be considered.
Maintenance of certification may be available to the incumbent through the Rochester Fire Department.
