General
Job Description:
The Assistant Production Manager works under the supervision of the Plant Supervisor. They are responsible in planning, coordinating and controlling of all manufacturing processes. The Assistant Production Manager monitors production and ensures the accurate amount is produced at the right quality and cost.
Minimum
Qualifications:

Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental requirements in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations
Good computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and MRP Systems
Ability to read and understand blueprints at an advanced level
Experience in the utilization of lean manufacturing practices and ISO/TS Quality Systems
Supervisory Specific Duties:
1) Promote a clean and safe working environment which complies with all company standards, OSHA regulations, ISO:14001 standards, and all other federal, state and local laws and regulations
2) Train employees on company policies. Ensure, create and maintain an environment where compliance to all processes and procedures is a minimum job requirement
3) Train, coach and mentor the workforce. Complete employee performance reviews in a timely manner in an effort to further develop employees and monitor performance. Keep management team informed of any and all training needs and/or desires.
4) Promote a teamwork environment by conducting periodic meetings with all departmental employees
5) Monitor supplies for all department specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work with the Safety Manager and purchasing to order and replenish inventory levels
6) Establish initiatives for improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, good housekeeping and employee relations
7) Recommend continuous improvement actions for improving work processes
Production Specific Duties:
1) Analyzes work orders and blue prints to establish an efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, sequence of operations and the workforce.
2) Voices all concerns while working with other production staff, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Executive Director to resolve any and all current or potential problems affecting the production schedule
3) Monitor inventory levels and communicate to purchasing the need for material required on up-coming projects in a timely manner
4) Review all new project release packages to verify that customers specifications are achievable. Participate in new-product-launch meetings
5) Support Engineering and Quality Assurance with technical advice to determine proper processes and quick solutions to problems
6) Provide feedback to Engineering and Quality Assurance for any process changes / process improvements
7) Assist Quality Assurance with establishing inspection documents and procedures
8) Monitor production to ensure conformance with established processes and time standards to achieve desired results
9) Answer all customer service expedites in a timely fashion
10) Monitor machine maintenance, bringing forth any concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
11) Monitor scrap and rework in accordance with company standards
12) Maintains organized and accurate documentation and timely reporting of all production activities
13) Monitor and enforce company housekeeping standards.
Departmental Specific Duties:
1) Helps provide the production process and schedule, overseeing quality control and ensuring products are produced on time and/or projects are completed within the deadline
2) Helps to monitor and measure performance for all of manufacturing
3) Helps to establish production work rates, post expected production yields and monitor efficiency
4) Ensures proper utilization of all human and material resources, creating a timescale for production, supervising production processes, and adjusting schedules when needed
5) Ensure that all operations are running efficiently in order to maximize production output and minimize excessive overtime
6) Assist Plant Supervisor in maintaining perishable inventory by establishing min / max levels Works with Quality Assurance to verify product standards and implement quality-control programs
