AIRCRAFT MECHANIC

As a Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-11, you will perform as the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Mechanic and is responsible for the maintenance of the total system and components. The National Guard Bureau (NGB) title is Aircraft Mechanic and the Occupational Series is WG-8852. This position is located in the UAS unit or facility of the Army National Guard (ARNG)Brigade Combat Team, Special Forces Group, or other future units or facilities supporting the maintenance and logistics functions of a Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (TUAS) or future replacement system. The aircraft and systems maintained primarily involves those UAS where the aircraft relies on the Flight Control System to automatically set the main flight parameters based on navigational information input by the operator. The UAS mission involves a variety of functions such as surveillance, reconnaissance, combat search and rescue support, and potential target illumination, laser targeting, etc., when airframe capabilities permit. This position is required to support and sustain a regular and reliable operator flight training program. Military Grades:

Experience:
Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Must have 18 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
