Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor - PRRC

Conducts thorough clinical assessments with focus on identifying risk factors and the psychosocial needs of Veterans, develops treatment plans indicating utilization of empirically-based interventions and appropriate and relevant clinical practices in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team of the PRRC. Provides individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy to Veterans and their significant others. In the event of a medical or psychiatric emergency, the incumbent will follow protocols of the PRRC and the Medical Center. Knowledgeable of the range of services available through the VA Medical Center and the associated Rochester Outpatient Clinic, and actively works to connect veterans and their families to appropriate services. Knowledgeable of available community resources and will assist Veterans and/or their families in connecting with appropriate and needed resources/services. Collaborates with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services. Assists Behavioral Health and PRRC leadership in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers. Adheres to operational policies and procedures established by the medical center and the Behavioral Health Care Line. Assists Behavioral Health and PRRC leadership in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes). Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by Behavioral Health, PRRC, and medical center leadership. Attends regular PRRC, Behavioral Health, and Medical Staff meetings. Participates in peer review processes of social work, psychology, and mental health counseling departments. Incumbent is responsible for scheduling patient appointments in accordance with VHA Outpatient Scheduling Processes and Procedures as outlined in relevant VHA Directives. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. LPMHCs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j. Hold a master's degree in mental health counseling, or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Examples of related mental health counseling fields include, but are not limited to, Addiction Counseling; Community Counseling; Gerontology Counseling; Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling; and Marriage and Family Therapy. A doctoral degree in mental health counseling may not be substituted for the master's degree in mental health counseling. Grade Determinations:
GS 9 Level:
The entry level is used for LPMHCs with less than one year of post-master's degree experience or for LPMHCs who are graduates, not yet licensed at the independent practice level. GS 11 Level:
In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must have at least 1 year of post-master's degree mental health counseling experience; OR In addition to the basic requirements, a doctoral degree in mental health counseling, or a related field may be substituted for the required 1 year of professional mental health counseling experience. Must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice mental health counseling, which includes diagnosis and treatment issued by any state other than New York. Preferred
Experience:

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-9 to GS-11. Physical Requirements:
The work is mostly sedentary. However, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of light items may be necessary. Must be able to transport a government vehicle to transport patients. Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
